چکیده

The hardness of compact bone is about 10 times higher than cancellous (trabecular) bone, thanks to both its density and mineralization. The higher bone density gives the higher primary implants stability values . Considering that cancellous bone has lower biomechanical values, some authors like to name it ‘lower quality bone’, which is not quite exact and correct term. It is better to name it – ‘low density bone’. The most important parameter is the quality of bone that can be classified by its density based on panoramic radiography . Bone is then classified as: type 1 – compact bone; type 2 – thick layer of compact bone which overlays trabecular bone; type 3 – thin layer of cortical bone which overlays dense trabecular bone; type 4 – thin layer of cortical bone which overlays low density trabecular bone (Figure 1). Regardless bone density, particular concern should be carried out with patients at risk, like patients after radiotherapy 15, . Implant stability can also be differentiated by the location in the jaw bone region. Higher values of primary stability are achieved in the regions with higher bone density (measured by computed tomography – CT), such are intercanine and molar regions. In case of higher bone density, a high value of primary stability will be achieved 17, . Fig.1 – Bone type scheme, drawn by Dr. Filip Ivanjac, inspired by Lekholm and Zarb .

Resonance frequency analysis of implant stability in augmented and non-augmented sinus sites

Background and aim:  Although there have been substantial developments in dental implant therapies, achieving good implant stability (ISQ >60) for implants inserted in augmented sinus sites appears to be challenging in comparison with non-augmented sites due to the high prevalence of bone resorption in posterior regions of maxilla. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the time required to a...

Large Amplitude Vibration Analysis of Graphene Sheets as Resonant Mass Sensors Using Mixed Pseudo-Spectral and Integral Quadrature Methods

The present paper investigates the potential application of graphene sheets with attached nanoparticles as resonant sensors by introducing a nonlocal shear deformation plate model. To take into account an elastic connection between the nanoplate and the attached nanoparticle, the nanoparticle is considered as a mass-spring system. Then, a combination of pseudo-spectral and integral quadrature m...

Determination of Resonance Frequency of Dominant and Higher Order Modes in Thin and Thick Circular Microstrip Patch Antennas with Superstrate by MWM (RESEARCH NOTE)

An accurate model named as the Modified Wolff Model (MWM) is presented as an efficient CAD tool for determination of resonant frequency of the dominant and higher order modes under the multi-layer condition in thin and thick circular microstrip patch antennas. The effects of dielectric cover on the resonant frequency obtained from MWM have been compared against the result of theoretical method ...

Voltage Regulation of DC-DC Series Resonant Converter Operating in Discontinuous Conduction Mode: The Hybrid Control Approach

Dynamic modeling and control of dc-dc series resonant converter (SRC) especially when operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) is still a challenge in power electronics. Due to semiconductors switching, SRC is naturally represented as a switched linear system, a class of hybrid systems. Nevertheless, the hybrid nature of the SRC is commonly neglected and it is modeled as a purely contin...

Measurement of dental implant stability by resonance frequency analysis: a review of the literature.

Dental implant treatment is an excellent option for prosthetic restoration that is associated with high success rates. Implant stability is essential for a good outcome. The clinical assessment of osseointegration is based on mechanical stability rather than histological criteria, considering primary stability (absence of mobility in bone bed after implant insertion) and secondary stability (bo...
